All anglers rely on a clean and plentiful supply of water to pursue their passion. The threat of pollution and other damage to any river, canal or lake can never be ruled out, even in the remotest areas of Britain. The ACA diminishes this threat by fighting those that pollute. We secure hundreds of thousands of pounds in compensation each year to restore the condition of damaged water. By making polluters pay, we send out a message to others that they cannot get away with depriving you and future generations of a healthy water environment, and places to catch fish.

If you even remotely care about the health of fish and other aquatic life, you should join us in this fight.

 Matt Hayes

“I urge every angler to pledge their support to angling’s leading conservation body - now”

Jeremy Paxman

“All anglers ought to support the ACA; if we don’t look after our rivers, no-one else is going to do it.”

What does the ACA do?

The ACA is a unique organisation set up in 1948 to use the law to fight polluters and anyone who damages our members' fishing.

Our legal team fights cases for our member clubs and fishery owners in the civil courts.

We have prevented countless pollution incidents by using the threat of legal action to deter would be polluters.

We have won millions of pounds in compensation for our members, which has been spent on restoration and restocking.

Despite taking on some of the largest companies in the country, we have only lost 3 cases in 57 years.

We represent our members by lobbying the government to protect the environment we all depend on for good fishing.

In 2007, we won total damages of £201,503 in 34 separate cases. We also campaigned and lobbied the government about water policy and legislation.
